Sto ancora vomitando arcobaleni multipli. Seriamente. Questo romanzo è così tenero, struggente e sensuale che continuerò ad aggirarmi per il mondo con occhi a cuoricino ancora per diverso tempo.
Lefi Dhrahn è una vecchia conoscenza, appare già nella serie An Uncommon Whore. Prostituto di classe e psicologo, Lefi è una persona estremamente sola. Ha perso il padre e, successivamente, anche la sua gemella: quindi, si è allontanato dalla sua famiglia ed è passato attraverso l’inferno prima di essere salvato – almeno fisicamente. Infatti, Lefi, dietro il suo sorriso malizioso e la sua potente carica sessuale, è ancora un’anima perduta sulla via dell’autodistruzione.
La sua prima scintilla di vero interesse per qualcuno scatta quando incontra l’ispettore Afton Teris, un ermafrodita costretto dai genitori in un’identità di genere (maschile) che non lo soddisfa del tutto. La sua forte attrazione per Lefi, però, lo costringerà a rivedere le sue convinzioni e a esplorare il suo lato femminile.
The Bacchi mi ha stregato, come prima di lui avevano fatto An Uncommon Whore e When I fall. Il mondo creato da Belinda McBride è interessante, con intrighi, rapimenti e sparizioni misteriose. Non guasta neanche l’introduzione di razze diverse, che spesso fanno fatica a interagire tra di loro a causa delle loro diversità culturali. Davvero, davvero bello: credo che leggerò presto qualcos’altro di Belinda McBride.
